SANTA AND THE RECESSION

Tis the season for holiday cheer but lots of parents are feeling the pinch this year. Some are still unemployed so for them today was somewhat uneventful.

They don’t know when they’ll find another job so the thought of spending hundreds of dollars on the latest gadgets will have to be left at just that, a thought.

Some may have used their credit cards to buy a few gifts for their children and they’ll brace themselves for the credit card statement next month.

Then there are the lucky few, the ones that have just landed a new job but they have to use their paychecks to play catch up on their over due bills.

They may not have a lot of gifts under the tree but they do have the comfort of knowing that after Christmas they will have a job to come back to.

News reports are showing people flocking to the malls as well as specialty stores as if they don't have a care in the world. It's as if money is no object. Should we believe what we see or is it the media trying to make the American public feel better ? I think it's 50/50.

Merry Christmas to everyone, including your families and I hope today will bring  you joy and happiness!

JORDAN WINS EVERY TIME !!!!

People across the country are going crazy for the new Air Jordan’s that came out yesterday. Not even the Iphone can create this much frenzy! There have been news reports from all over the country of people getting arrested and fighting over the $180 pair of tennis shoes. If I didn't see it on television with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it!

People lined up in Washington, Georgia, New Jersey, Kentucky, New York, California, and Ohio ...the list goes on and on!!!!!

This particular shoe is suppose to be the retro version of the Air Jordan 11 which was originally released in 1996, when the Chicago Bulls dominated basketball.

Police have been out in full force to control the crowd. One young guy has been waiting on the release of this shoe for a few years!!!!!! He said he managed to get a pair that were a little too big but he doesn't care, he's just happy he was able to get a pair! In the past people have actually been murdered for a pair of Jordan’s. All I can say is wow!!!!

The really odd thing is the fact that Michael Jordan really doesn't have to do a lot of promoting! His followers are already hyped up! He has to be the best marketing genius of all time!!! It's remarkable!!!! President Obama, Steve Jobs, nor Bill Gates can evoke this type of pandemonium!!!!!!

Even in this economy, with the unemployment rate going through the roof Jordan is still racking in the money and not even bothering to lower the price!!! That's just straight up gansta!!!!

I'm old enough to remember watching Jordan on the court and his skills were beyond belief!  To this day I have never seen a basketball player move the way he did.

But then again what's wrong with Kobe Bryant's tennis shoe or any other young popular athlete who has a shoe out. What is it about Michael Jordan?

I think it's because Jordan lived up to the name of his shoe. He truly was and always will be “AIR JORDAN"!!!

Happy shopping!

DOPE DEALERS, TURKEYS, AND TOYS

Here's the scenario; a dope dealer sells drugs in his own poverty stricken community. Parents get hooked; children get hooked; slowly the dysfunction spreads.

The next thing you know the father has rotten teeth and the mother is turning tricks. Meanwhile their children have become small time dope dealers and they get their friends hooked.

The crime rate goes up as well as unemployment as businesses start to leave towards greener pastures.
That's when "Mr. Big Time Dope Dealer" steps in like a knight in shiny armor!

He usually shows up 2-3 times a year bearing gifts such as school supplies, turkeys on thanksgiving and toys on Christmas.

Some segments of the community praise him not really understanding their right in the middle of a bizarre, sick, cycle.

When the dope dealer is arrested the story has only just begun. If he has destroyed enough lives and made a lot of money then books are written about him as well as block buster movies. He becomes not only infamous but famous. In the meantime the community is left to pick up the pieces.

Maybe one day our fascination with criminals will change. Until then I guess we'll all just grab some popcorn, sit in a nice cozy chair and enjoy the sick depressing show and see how it all plays out. I bet you can guess the ending.

ARE MOVIE STARS NEEDED ANYMORE?

Remember the good old days when actors were the ones that made movies great? Now it seems like all you need is a hot chick and good animation and guess what, you got yourself a summer blockbuster!

Most of the actors in the summer blockbusters this year are either semi famous or not famous at all. This is especially true when it comes to the “super hero” type movies like Thor, Conan, and Captain America.

We use to go to the movies only if we were familiar with the actors. That has changed.
Does Denzel Washington or Johnny Depp have anything to worry about? Maybe not. They have already achieved fame and fortune. But do directors really need them to deliver a hit?

This could be the dawn of a new day for all of the character actors and new actors that are waiting for their break. It may come sooner than they think!
